Studies

Here are some recent studies. I bought a sketchbook that is the size of a world atlas and the paper is made of cotton fibers and sucks up the watercolor fast. I like being surprised by the differing qualities of paper surfaces and the challenges they present.

  1. Each study has captured a time of day and a feeling too, you have been very successful. The top one is my favourite as it has mystery and serenity. Interesting to read about the paper surfaces, the last painting looks very much like a pastel painting.

  2. Hi Caroline, the last one is a real example of working from light to dark. I am able to get a wide variety of studies but this paper has stretched me. I am forced to invent new techniques in order to accomidate a good result. It's nice to switch up once in a while.

  3. Beautiful work! These paintings have such a feeling of vastness, like you want to walk to the horizon to see what lies beyond. Really nice.

  5. Love all of them, and for different reasons. The second one down is my favorite. The feeling of time and essence is so strong. Really nice!

  6. Hi Loriann and Robert. I appreciate the comments. This is the first time I have been able to log in to blogger in almost 2 weeks. There is some kind of glitch somewhere.
